Event Support Team secures CSAS accreditation to strengthen event traffic management
UK — Event Support Team (EST) has been accredited under the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS), expanding the tools available to keep roads safe and events moving. The voluntary scheme—established by the Police Reform Act 2002—allows approved organisations to exercise limited, police-approved powers that support community safety and traffic management.
What is CSAS?
CSAS is granted by a Chief Constable to vetted organisations, enabling trained staff to carry out specified functions that complement policing—focused on prevention, reassurance, and safer public spaces.
How CSAS helps at events
Targeted traffic control: Manage flows in designated zones, support diversions, and protect pedestrian areas and bus corridors.
On-the-spot compliance: Exercise agreed powers (e.g., directing traffic, addressing parking/obstruction issues) to reduce congestion and risks around venues.
Integrated operations: Work alongside police, local authorities, and event control rooms to deliver consistent plans across build, live, and de-rig phases.
HVM and access management: Coordinate vehicle screening, stewarding, and priority routes for blue-light access.
Benefits for organisers and communities
Greater authority, faster decisions: CSAS status enables quicker, proportionate interventions without over-reliance on police attendance.
Safety and experience: Fewer bottlenecks, clearer access for residents and services, and a smoother arrival/egress for attendees.
Efficiency: Specialist teams with the right kit and procedures free police to focus on core duties.
Professional standards: Trained staff, audited processes, and clear accountability through the police partnership framework.
Event Support Team’s role
As a CSAS-accredited provider, EST combines these powers with its traffic management expertise—planning diversions, operating checkpoints, deploying signage/VMS and ANPR, and coordinating with SAG, highways, and blue-light partners. The result is safer roads, compliant operations, and better outcomes for organisers, residents, and attendees alike.
